Polyphemus Moth

Not the best pic, but I couldn't open the contain too far, for fear it would fly.  In the early fall the kids found a big ugly green caterpillar.  Like kids do they put it in a bug container to inpect it.  The following day it had gone into cacoon.  Expecting it to hatch shortly we put it on a table to wait.  You could hear it russelling around in it's little bed, every now and then.  And surprise yesterday, Feb 19 there was a moth flapping in the container.  Silly thing, it's not like we can let it go outside, it's snowing out there.

Tomorrow is a Family Day.  Everything is closed, to spend well needed family time.  We're planning on relaxing and watching movies all day.  So happy Family Day to everyone.

365 cards challenges

Happy Saturday.  Hope everyone is warm.  Chilly here, and very high winds.  Last night was snowing and high winds, made for an iteresting drive home.
I was thrilled to see 365 Cards this week.  A whole week of sketchs.  My fav. Although I only managed to squeeze in to challenges.  I'll save the rest for future reference.  My first is for Day 353- Wednesday Sketch.  This is a new stamp I picked up the other day.  I inked with distress ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  Then colored with distress inks.  Covered one of the flowers with a mesh and silk flower held on with a brad.  The dots on the paper are dotted with glossy accents to make them stand out.
This card is for Day 352-Tuesday Sketch.
While I was shopping at the Craft Nook the other day, Lilian pointed out to me Magic Stamp.  Wonderful.  I had to try it when I got home.  So I tried with this stamp.

Here is the magic stamp.  You just heat it with your heat gun, and press your stamp into it.
Here is the image I came up with.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.
DH is planning a night in the hot tub.  Hope I don't turn into an icile on the way to it.

Card Class

Using distress inks.  Just home from the Craft Nook, our local craft store.  Today was working with distress inks.
On this card we started by cutting out the shape.  Then stamp the words stamp onto a piece of white paper.  Then using versa mark stamped the florish and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I then colored the paper with distress inks.  The metal embelish is cool.  A washer with glossy accents in the centre and a dew drop stuck in the centre.

On this one I used the distress ink to stamp the background and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I have tried this technique before and it didn't work so well.  But we figured out I probably not putting enough ink on the stamp.  This one worked out just fine. The little girl is colored with pencil crayons.

Another wonderful afternoon spent doing what I like best.  Thanks Lilian.

Flu Season

Just home from the doctors with my germ factories.  Grant started last Thursday, and just seems to be getting worse not better.  Now we have antibiotics for him, and he can't go back to school till next week.  Hopefully rest and quiet at home and he'll get better.  Sam is complaining about upset stomach and dizzyness.  She's been home since Tuesday.

Card recipe:
cardstock, versa mark, black emboss powder, silk flowers, i-Rock gems, br. cats eye ink.

I had fun trying out my new i-Rock.  It will take a bit to figure out how long to heat each stone.

happy birthday

Quick post this morning.  Had the little guy to the doctors this morning and am waiting for the sitter so I can rush to work.  He's had headaches lately,  don't know why.  Doctor can't find anything wrong.  Maybe rest for a day will help.

We have a 50th birthday to go to tomorrow, so last night I whipped up this card to take.  I made it for Card Patterns-Sketch 101

Here is the sketch.

Pegs Benefit

No cards to show you today.  DH my aunt and uncle, and I were away for the weekend attending a Benefit for my cousin.  She is going through cervical cancer for the second time.  It's amazing how many friends and family were there to support her.  A penny sale, toonie toss, 50/50 draw and wheelbarrow of cheer.  The winner of the 50/50 donated the money back.  And a friend of her that works at a resort awarded her with a weeks holiday for her and her family.  How wonderful is that.
And there's Jeff by her side the whole time.  What a wonderful guy.

Family portrait.  Love you guys.

Keep fighting Peg, we're all there for you.

Card Patterns Sketch 100

Here we are Thursday already.  Where has the week gone.  It's been a busy day ever since the alarm went off at 6:30. It's 9:00 now and I'm just  getting to post my card.  My morning started with rushed lunches so I could get to a cleaning job, before I went off to my regular job.  Soup for supper because there was no time for anything else.  Out the door to get Sam to violin, because we missed it yesterday due to a snowstorm.  After dropping her off it was to the school to drop Grant off for basketball, back to pick Sam up, and back to wait for Grant.  Rush to swimming, I did get to sit down there for 45 min, even got to read abit.  Next stop home, snacks, bed, and here we are.  Don't think there will be much crafting tonight, other than maybe to cut paper for the kids to start their valentines.

My card today was for Card Patterns-Sketch 100
I stamped hearts on white paper with red ink, then colored the ribbons with watercolor pencils.  The scalloped circle was cut with spellbinders and without removing the paper from the die I used yellow distress ink to color it.  Then stamped with black ink.

Here is the sketch.

Snow Day

Afternoon everyone.  Well the storm hit us last night.  I thought it was farther south and we wouldn't get hit, but I was wrong.  Woke up this morning to a snow storm, and buses cancelled.  Which was too bad.  I had taken the day off to go curling with my daughters class.  She is more worried about the test she is to have tomorrow, and not bring her book home to study.

I would like to thank the wonderful ladies at the Craft Nook.  They wrote very nice words about me in the weekly newsletter.  They have also started their own blog for the store, and my Project 12 December Layout is featured there.  You can check them out HERE.  Thanks again ladies for all you hard work and inspiration.

Todays card was alot of fun to complete.  I've done many different techniques on it.
